Creativity is the residue of time wasted.

I must go,
the shaking is wild
in me.
All I ask
is a quiet sleep
and a sweet dream.

For my very last art project for school, my class got the chance to add to the murals that already line our school’s hallways. We picked an inspirational person and a quote by them that we would feature! I personally chose Ken Robinson, someone who has greatly influenced this blog! I chose my favorite quote by him:
“if you are not prepared to be wrong, you will never come up with anything original.”
Inspiring, right? :)
I chose Robinson not only because he has inspired me but because it is my quiet protest of the education system at my school. It’s terribly ironic that Ken Robinson, a man who stands for great education reform that goes against most of America’s system today, is on our walls at Riverwood. Maybe it will spur people to research him? Maybe it will do something more than just be another one of the portraits on our halls… -
Did you know…
That the color blue can help you double your creative output?

I define creativity as the process of having original ideas that have value.
Sir Ken Robinson -
My IB Examination was this Tuesday! It went really well I think, and felt really good to get over with. The interviewer and I got along really well. We had our art on exhibit for a little bit afterwards as well for the school to see and I thought I would post it up here! Enjoy:)

More street art! The first picture is by Hense, a street artist that my sister told me about. She saw him working on this very piece at the Richmond Street Art Festival near where she goes to college. I am really jealous that she got to see it!
The others are by Monsieur Qui, Bonom, Blu, and Nicer Bio.

People ask me, ‘Don’t you ever run out of ideas?’ In the first place, I don’t use ideas. Every time I have an idea it’s too limiting, and usually turns out to be a disappointment. But I haven’t run out of curiosity.
Robert Rauschenberg -
Control, apparently, is not the answer. People who need certainty in their lives are less likely to make art that is risky, subversive, complicated, iffy, suggestive, or spontaneous. What’s really needed is nothing more than a broad sense of what you are looking for, some strategy for how to find it, and an overriding willingness to embrace mistakes and surprises along the way. Simply put, making art is chancy- it doesn’t mix well with predictability. Uncertainty is the prerequisite to succeeding.

These intricate and creative pieces are by Kristi Malakoff, a Canadian artist. It is interesting how she took everyday materials, like money and stamps, and turned it into art. I have different currency collections and I know lots of people collect stamps. Instead of letting the collections just sit there getting dusty, why not make them into art?
